We drove some pretty curvy roads to get to Muir Woods. We were glad we were in the minivan. Muir Woods is very popular and the parking is extremely limited.
We went in search of the Giant Redwoods.
The trees range in age from 400 to 800 years, their height up to 250 feet.
Their trucks are huge!
You look up and you can't see the top!
Such a beautiful place!
We enjoyed visiting this ancient forest! It was time to head back to the van.
We got back to North Beach and walked the 45 minutes back to the ferry.......this was how long the line was to get on the ferry!
Darrell got in line, I went to the bathroom. We decided if we didn't get on this one, we would be close to the front of the line for the next one. We couldn't believe it! We made it on!!
We didn't realize there was a bar on the ferry.....this guy was mixing drinks as fast as he could!
We were tired by the time we got back to Vallejo and our motel room. Tomorrow back to Riverbank.....vacation over!! We left early....there were a few stops we wanted to make on the way, Maggie and Marlee had to be picked up by noon. We had breakfast at Huckleberry's in Fairfield....I had Huckleberry crepes......so good!
After that we stopped at the Jelly Belly Factory.......
Stopped in The Delta.....
We bought a watermelon....it was almost as good as the Hermiston melons in Washington.
Maggie and Marlee did really good at Standiford Boarding. They weren't that glad to see us, think they could have stayed longer.......they each got a report card.
We both agreed this is something we should do more often....it felt so good to get away!
