STORMY WEATHER, DURANGO RV RESORT, RED BLUFF, CA.

We were happy to be back at Seven Feathers again,  it is a beautiful resort with indoor swimming pool and hot tub. We had a lovely site again and glad to be where hopefully  the weather wouldn't be as bad. It was a little windy for the drive over, but no rain.  It started raining after we got set up.

We couldn't wait to get in the hot tub, it had been a while....it was nice and hot!

It rained hard and was very windy  all the next day. We cleaned house and washed clothes.
Later we drove over to the Casino.

We put on our heavy waterproof coats!

It rained all night and all the next day, which was Sunday. I did some baking and made fried rice to freeze. We only got out once to get some ingredients. It was a very messy day, Maggie and Marlee hated to go out and go potty.

We left on Monday morning for Red Bluff, California and  Durango RV Park, and hopefully drier weather!

We sure didn't like this weather update! It says winter driving  next 18 miles!
WINTER!!! WE DON'T LIKE WINTER!!

We were back in California!

We arrived in Red Bluff around 2:30 and finally saw the sun after four days!! Durango is a beautiful RV park, one of the nicer ones we have stayed in.

The hot tub and pool were almost always deserted. This RV Park even  had a dog wash!

Red Bluff is located  right on the Sacramento River.

I loved this little town, I told Darrell I could live here.

When we checked in,  the RV Park gave us some information of things to do in the area. One of the afternoon trips was to take Highway 99 to Los Molinos. There were fresh produce stands all the way to Los Molinos. That sounded like something we would love to do, so we set out.

Our favorite stop was this one.

When I walked in I said WOW! I've never seen so many walnuts!

The nice lady behind the counter said," Oh, that's nothing and took us in the back and showed us huge  bins  of walnuts! They raise Chandler walnuts here.

She showed us how they grew and explained how they harvest them.

Walnuts aren't my favorite nut, but we bought a bag and when I got back to the RV I wished I had bought more. They are delicious, the best walnuts I have ever eaten. We stopped at several more stands, this was out Bounty........

Walnuts, pistachios, almonds, tomatoes, persimmons, pomegranite, peaches, pumpkin and garlic. They were all delicious!
The next day we drove over to Redding, Ca. to do a little shopping and eat at In-N-Out.
We were headed toward Lassen Volcanic National Park, where all four types of volcanoes found in the entire world are represented.

Our first In-N-Out burger since leaving Arizona in the spring.
The next day it was time to continue our journey, we headed to Lodi, California and Flag City RV Resort, a Passport America Park, we stayed here before in 2013.

PORTLAND, OREGON

We left for Portland the next day,  we have reservations at Jantzen Beach RV Resort. It was cloudy and rainy for the drive over. This is the Columbia River Gorge and Hood River route that we have heard so much about.

We drove right past Multnomah Falls, we will be in Portland the whole week, we plan on visiting, hopefully on a nicer day!

It had quit raining by the time we reached Jantzen Beach  RV Resort.

We had a nice RV site. It was quiet and convenient.

The next day we had lunch with Jan and Stan, our Workamper buddies we met in Westport, Wa. in 2013. We have had the opportunity to visit them on the road about once a year.
This sign tickled us!

The next day we went to Multnomah Falls. It was cold, windy and rainy! All of that didn't hide the beauty!

This bridge is featured in photos worldwide. That's me in the middle of the bridge.

What a lovely place this is!! So happy we got to see it!

We found  a Hop-on-Hop off  Portland Downtown  Trolley Tour online  for the next day and even though  Jantzen Beach RV Resort is the closest RV park to downtown, it took a bit to get there. We walked over to a shopping center near us and took a bus.

We rode that bus to a light rail station and had just a short wait......Here it comes!

Then after a short walk we found the Pink Trolley Tour.

Darrell walked across the street and got our tickets.

The Trolley stops at 14 different stops.

We got off  at Washington Park.

We wanted to visit the Rose Garden here. As we got off the trolley the driver pointed out the view here, which is one that is seldom seen  because of the clouds. A perfect view of  Mt. Hood .

The Rose Garden is above Portland....you would never know you were in a large city up here.

I took the  time to smell the roses!

As we were leaving, we noticed this sign.

We quickly realized with 14 stops we weren't going to have enough time to get off at every stop. You stop for an hour and we knew we couldn't leave Maggie and  Marlee that long. We got back on the trolley, we were back in the city. We just rode for a while and saw the city.

The Pearl District.......

It was a beautiful day in Portland, but the folks on the trolley  and the trolley driver  said this was going to be the last nice day for quite a while. Rain was in the forecast. Their rainy season was upon us!

The River Waterfront was coming up, we were hungry, so we decided to get off again.

We walked a little way and found a little sidewalk cafe, the burger was delicious!

After getting back on the trolley and checking the time we knew it was time to head back to the RV.
We  realized you need at least two days to see downtown Portland, but we didn't want to see it in the rain. Today is also Maggie's 13th birthday......we had to get home to  celebrate!

We listened to the weather that evening, they are calling for not just one storm......three for the weekend. It didn't sound good......the next day it rained hard all day. The Oregon Coast was predicted to get hurricane force winds and flooding.  We cancelled  our reservations for the Coast and decided to go inland. There was going to be a little reprieve between the first and  second storm,  so we decided to see if  Seven Feathers Casino RV Resort in Canyonville,  had any empty spots.....What luck! They had one pull thru site left! We took it and left Portland on Friday. It wasn't raining or blowing....we got lucky!!
