Our first stop, Pendleton, Oregon. We had never made it over here, so we wanted to check it out.
It was just a short drive. We were looking forward to staying at Wild Horse Casino RV Park.
.
It was cool and cloudy, but we went in the outdoor hot tub anyway. It wasn't quite hot enough for us.
We had a large site.
I made reservations for the next day to take Pendleton's Underground Tour.
Turns out it was a private tour, we were the only ones for the 10:30 tour. I was surprised at how large the tunnels and rooms were.
They enticed Chinese men with promises of lots of money and a better life and then broke all those promises. They were treated like slaves and forced to live underground in the worst of conditions.
We also toured the living and working quarters of Pendleton's " Ladies of the Night"
It was an enlightning tour full of history and colorful characters.
We also visited the Pendleton Woolen Mill.
And did a little shopping.
We were disappointed when we started reading the labels.
VIETNAM
CHINA
And there was one more label.....MEXICO
Such a nice looking set of luggage!
This is called "scraping the bottom of the barrel". I will miss these melons!
The next morning while we were getting packed up, we noticed this chicken (rooster?) running around the RV Park.
I went over and asked these workers if this was the RV Park's Mascot. They encouraged me to take him? with us.
We were headed to Peach Beach RV Park on the Columbia River.

Before heading back to the RV we stopped at Safeway to see if they would possibly have a Hermiston Watermelon........
